Ashby Primary School Is Taking Nativity And Christmas Carol Concert On To You Tube This Year
Ashby's Woodcote Primary School is taking its Nativity and Christmas carols on to YouTube this year.
With the coronavirus pandemic restrictions still in place, the school will not be able to stage its traditional concert.
And it also means that pupils will not be able to bring cards in to exchange with their friends this year.
But the school has found a way for the children to have their concert by filming scenes and putting them together in the form of a video which will be posted online.
The Willowbrook Close school gave details in its newsletter which reads: "As we are unable to hold our traditional Nativity and Carol Concerts this year, we will be trying something slightly different.
"We will be recording the Nativity performances in school, filming each bubble separately and then putting the videos together as one performance for Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.
"They will then be posted on our YouTube channel and this will only be able to be accessed with a password which will be provided to parents and carers.
"This is an exciting opportunity and it is nice to be able to share the performances rather than having to restrict tickets, as usually happens in school.
"This also has the added bonus of being able to watch it with your child, and re-watch it as many times as you like."
Woodcote Primary also explained why pupils would not be able to exchange cards.
The newsletter adds: "We are doing our best to minimise potential infection, and bringing cards in from home would increase the chances of the virus being spread further afield.
"We're keeping our fingers crossed for a healthy Christmas for our whole Woodcote family.
"As an alternative, and so the children don't feel like they're missing out, each class will have an afternoon to make cards for their friends in school."
