An Ashby opticians is promoting its apprenticeship qualification scheme.

The Specsavers Scheme is open to anyone from the age of 16 – including recent school or college leavers or those looking for a new challenge.

A team member at the Market Street branch is celebrating afters successfully completing their apprenticeship.

Natalia Burikova passed with a distinction after a year of assessments and gaining practical experience in store.

Training lasts for 13 months, but there are also degree level apprenticeships available, which take three to four years to complete.

Kuljinder Bains, store director at Specsavers Ashby, says: "Natalia has been a great asset to the team since she started.

"She's worked really hard and everyone is thrilled that she achieved such a great result.

"She's going to be staying on with us as an optical assistant and continue to deliver fantastic customer service.'

Natalia said: "I really enjoyed my apprenticeship and the whole Specsavers Ashby team were so supportive,

"It's really helped to build my confidence and I'm looking forward to being able to continue my career at the store now that I've completed the course."

Kuljinder added: "As long as you're a hard worker, punctual and ambitious you will do well at Specsavers and there's plenty of opportunity to continue with your development.

"We're recruiting for more apprentices to start this summer, so if you're interested, please get in touch.'
