Ashby Museum is enjoying a successful reopening today (Mon) after being closed for almost six months due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The North Street volunteer-run visitor attraction has spent a month preparing to open its doors to the public again.

Health and safety measures, in line with Government guidelines for museums and art galleries, are being implemented including a one-way system, sanitiser stations, and screens to protect volunteers.

Museum visitors are also being asked to wear facemasks and to provide their details for NHS Track and Trace.

Trustee Angela Edwards told Ashby Nub News this afternoon: "We are very glad to be in a position to reopen.

"We are having a successful first day and look forward to welcoming more local visitors as well as those from further afield.

"Sadly, for the time being, all our interactive exhibits are switched off and there is a no-touch policy throughout the museum - but there is still plenty to enjoy.

"We are also asking visitors to the shop to re-sanitise their hands before browsing the books."
