Motorists in Ashby are facing delays up until Christmas on a busy town route.

Road works in Smisby Road are expected to last 11 weeks - and was meant to have started a week ago.

Temporary traffic lights have now gone up outside the new Crest Nicholson Potter's Grange estate which is still under construction.

The work involves the housebuilder carrying out improvement works to the carriageway and footway as well as some drainage works.

But it is likely to effect people travelling to and from the Ivanhoe Business Park.

It also co-coincides with 18 nights of road closures as part of the Money Hill development off the A511 Ashby by-pass.

That work is due to start on October 12.

At the same time, Brook Street is closed from its junction with Elford Road today (Monday) for four weeks, to allow Leicestershire County Council to safely make culvert repairs.
