The Met Office has issued a yellow thunderstorm warning - including Ashby and the surrounding areas - for this weekend, with the region set to be hit by storms on Saturday (21st August).

The warning is in place from 12pm-10pm tomorrow, with heavy showers and thunderstorms predicted throughout the day.

The Met Office says there is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded quickly, with damage to some buildings from floodwater.

They have also warned that spray and sudden flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures.

The warning also comes with the advice that, where flooding or lightning strikes occur, there is a chance of delays and some cancellations to train and bus services.

The warning is in place for almost all of England, stretching from Exeter to north of Newcastle-upon-Tyne and into Scotland.

Forecasts have predicted showers on Sunday, before the rain eases for a dry week ahead.
