Ashby Mayor announces new project to work with local schools to improve local careers opportunities

Mayor of Ashby Councillor Damilola Ojuri has announced she will be launching Opportunity Boost CIC to give back to the community by improving career opportunities, addressing workplace inequalities and supporting the unemployed to boost the local economy.
The idea first came to Damilola in 2018 while she was mentoring individuals looking to move into the tech industry. This has since evolved into leading both group sessions and one-on-one mentorship.
Now, the aim with Opportunity Boost is to work with schools and individuals across Leicestershire, Rutland and the local area to address the challenges that many people face in choosing the right career path at an early age.
Whether it is at the age of 16, 18 or later in life, being asked to make a decision on a career that could affect the rest of your life is a big deal and can be overwhelming.
Opportunity Boost's mission is to ensure students and job seekers receive proper guidance and support before taking the next step in their career.
Now, with a team of certified, experienced and passionate professionals, Opportunity Boost can provide training, mentoring and career guidance, all in a supportive and friendly environment.
The team are currently preparing to launch their first Career Conference in Ashby, bringing together professional speakers to discuss opportunities, share insights and answer questions.
This event, which is taking place on 1st November, hopes to provide a valuable platform for local people to learn, connect and take positive steps toward financial stability and long-term career success.
