The Mayor and Mayoress's Christmas Raffle will be held in The Lamb Inn in December with more than 400 prizes on offer.

It will be hosted by landlady Alex Stanley at the Market Street venue on December 12 between mid-day and 6pm.

The prizes have been generously donated by local retailers and shops - with one 'surprise gift' on offer.

Proceeds from the event will go to the Mayor and Mayoress's chosen charity, Mind - for better mental health - with tickets costing £5 a strip.

Only a limited number of people will be allowed to attend the prize draw - with Alex notifying the winners by phone.

Tickets are available at The Lamb as well as several Ashby outlets.

To promote the event, Mayor Cllr Graham Allman and Mayoress Charmaigne joined Alex as part of a day marking Ashby being awarded Purple Flag status for the fourth successive year.

The Purple Flag is given to towns who are seen to be promoting their night-time economy.
