Ashby company Breedon Consulting's managing director Nicki Robson took to the dance floor for charity - and waltzed away with first place.

Breedon Consulting was among several firms to take part in Leicester's Ballroom Glitz charity night.

The event welcomed professionals from across the Midlands - raising £60,000 for local charities Hope Against Cancer and LOROS Hospice, which provides high-quality and compassionate care to terminally ill adults, their family and carers.

Nicki was given seven weeks to practise and train for the competition.

On the night, she was paired with partner Tom Moore, founding director at Westbridge Group - and the pair won the crown with their Waltz.

Nicki said: "I was completely taken aback when they announced Tom and I had won the competition with our waltz.

"This was too good an opportunity to pass up and I am thrilled to have taken part to help raise money for two fantastic charities.

"I look forward to, hopefully, putting my dancing shoes back on next year or maybe one of my colleagues will take to the floor!"

The event was organised by sponsors Gateley Legal, after being delayed for two years, with the Strictly Come Dancing inspired evening taking place at Athena Leicester.

Georgina Sanders, Supporter Engagement Team Coordinator, said: "We're absolutely delighted to have been chosen to benefit from this wonderful event, and would like to thank everyone involved, particularly Tom and Nicki for their fantastic footwork. From everyone at LOROS, please do keep dancing!"

Nigel Rose, CEO of Hope Against Cancer, commented: "We never cease to be amazed by the imagination and effort that people are willing to bring to fundraising for charities like ourselves.

"The work we have done for the past 20 years is life-changing and life-saving, but we rely on people organizing and participating in events like this to generate the funding that we need.

"So, massive thanks to Gateley and the sponsors - and huge thanks and congratulations to Nicki and Tom!"
