A man from Ashby has been charged with murder following the death of a woman.

Daniel Cook (39) of Atkinson Road, Ashby, was due to appear before Leicester Magistrates' Court this afternoon (Tuesday, May 13).

Leicestershire Police said: "On Sunday evening (May 11) officers were called to Biddle Road, in Littlethorpe, Leicestershire, where a woman was found injured in the street. 

"Sadly, she was later pronounced deceased at the scene.

"Formal identification of the deceased is due to take place later this week.

"Officers continue to support the victim's family through this extremely difficult time.

"The person or people named in this release have been charged with an offence(s) and will be appearing in court.

"Nothing should be posted that could prejudice upcoming proceedings and care should be taken over any comment made.*
