The outdoor pool at Ashby Leisure Centre and Lido has undergone a £105,000 refurbishment - and will be open for summer from this Saturday (May 27).

The site, run by Everyone Active in partnership with North West Leicestershire District Council, has also revealed its full pool programme.

The pool has had its fibreglass skin replaced, in order to prolong its lifespan and ensure it remains open for the long term.

The investment was funded by Everyone Active, with the pool being the only public lido in Leicestershire.

The lido also includes a large sandpit filled with activities, as well as a 'Splashby Hut' serving a range of refreshments – all combining to make the 'Ashby-by-the-Sea' experience.

The pool was extensively redeveloped three years ago ahead of its post-Covid re-opening in 2021.

Duncan Gibb, Everyone Active's contract manager, said: "We are really looking forward to welcoming families for the summer and to see everyone enjoying the pool, sun and sand.

"As the only public lido in Leicestershire, we are expecting a busy summer, so we would encourage people to book their places early.

"Swimming is a hugely important life skill and the lido allows everyone to enjoy a range of activities."
