An Ashby company is hoping to raise around £3,000 in just two hours next month for an education charity

Rebound Inflatable Park is holding 'T'was the Bounce Before Christmas' at its Smisby Road site on December 18, between 6-8pm.

The aim is to raise money for the BuildOn organisation which aims to improve educational standards.

The popular venue plans to make the most of the festive period with a number of attractions in place in the weeks building up to the holidays.

Rebound was closed last Christmas due to the Covid pandemic.

But site manager Ben Sherriff says it wants to make up for that this year.

He told Ashby Nub News: "We're hoping to raise around £2,500-£3,000 which will go towards either building a school or educating 20 people for around a year in a third world country.

"That would be amazing, we want to give the gift of Christmas to people who wouldn't normally have the chance to excel at life, so we're doing our bit.

"The charity is BuildOn, which is a multi-company, well-respected for its ethos.

"We have been speaking to local businesses Clubs Complete and Primary PPA Cover. They said they would collaborate with their own fundraising."

The charity evening is not the only festive offering planned by Rebound.

Ben added: "We will have a 20ft Christmas tree being donated, and we'll have other around the site.

"We're asking local businesses and residents to let us have any spare decorations they may have.

"We want the biggest Christmas here, especially as we were closed last year - we want to go all out with this event and make a success of it.

"The Virtual Reality centre will be opened up on the evening, but rather than paying for a block session, we'll do £2 a ride.

"People who wouldn't normally have £15 to spend on the VR can buy one ride, and half that money will go to BuildOn.

"We'll have the new inflatables as well, a mixture of different games and something new, plus there'll be things like gingerbread decorating and we want to have snow foam if we can.

"It's only a two hour event, so we'll be cramming everything in.

"But there will be different things we'll be doing over Christmas.

"We are planning a Remembrance Tree, so people in Ashby can come in and bring a bauble and we'll have craft section so they can write their name or that of someone who's sadly died during the pandemic.

"We want to start that on November 19 when it arrives.

"And we plan to have the Gresley Colliery Brass Band playing here and possibly a choir. That is hopefully every weekend in December and they are also using Rebound as to practice in."
