Ashby dog groomers Mutleys has announced that it is to close.

The Rushtons Yard-based salon blames the Covid pandemic and staffing issues for the decision.

Mutleys has explained the reasons on its website and also in a Facebook message posted yesterday (Tuesday).

It reads: "We wanted to let you all know that we have decided to close the Mutleys salon.

"The effects of the past two pandemic years, and the ongoing industry-wide issues with quality, reliable staff supply were the main factors in our decision.

"We began our grooming service with Mutley Makeovers in Tamworth 18 years ago, with Sue as sole groomer.

"And then we opened Mutleys of Ashby in 2015. Sadly Sue's health issues meant she was forced to stop grooming, and we had to rely on staff.

"We have had a wonderful time attending to hundreds of beautiful dogs and cats over the years and it is now time to move on to new projects.

"Thank you so much for trusting us to look after your best friends, we have really loved them and will miss seeing you all.

"Let us know if you would like the details of a couple of local groomers who we are happy to recommend and who have availability so that your pup will have as little as possible disruption to his or her grooming schedule."
