Ashby de la Zouch Town Council has cancelled three of its planned meetings this months following the death of Queen Elizabeth II last week.

The council says on its website that the Events & Tourism Committee Meeting, scheduled to take place tonight (Monday) in Blackfordby, has been cancelled.

As well as that, the Councillor Surgery which was due to take place directly before the meeting, is also off.

The council adds: "As the period of public mourning has commenced, it will also not be possible to proceed with Full Council meeting on Monday 19th September, or Parks & Cemetery Committee Meeting on Monday 26th September."

It means that a planned discussion on whether to move Ashby's Remembrance Sunday service from the Bath Grounds back to the Brook Street War Memorial has been postponed until the Event & Tourism meeting can be re-arranged.
