The Ashby de la Zouch Town Council Annual Meeting will not take place this year due to the Coronavirus crisis.

And it will not be held for another 12 months with a date now set for May 17, 2021.

It also means that the current Mayor of Ashby, Cllr Graham Allman, will continue in that official role.

Cllr Allman will be Mayor for a third year, something that has never happened in the town before.

He will also carry on as town council chairman for another 12 months.

The current pandemic means town councils are no longer required to hold an annual meeting for this year.

That also means that all current appointments and committee memberships continue until next year's meeting.

No Ashby de la Zouch Town Council meetings have taken place since the Planning and Transportation Committee met on March 23, just before the Government lockdown took effect.
