The 'Tiny Forest' project is set to leave a legacy for the town, Ashby de la Zouch Town Council was told this week.
Driven by Cllr Barbara Kneale, the idea is set to take shape in part of Western Park.
Cllr Kneale told councillors at Monday's meeting that she had been asked what sort of legacy it would leave.
She said: "I spoke to Jane Rampin who is the Land Manager for Earthwatch Europe.
"And she asked me what sort of legacy this project would have and what Tiny Forest deliver.
"I'd say it'll give us a facility for future generations to educate them about climate change.
"Also, when it's not being used by Willesley School, it'd be a peaceful area for reflection, it'd be a wooded area with some seating."
Cllr Kneale explained more about where the Tiny Forest would be and what it would provide.
She added: "A suitable site has been identified at Western Park.
"It's on the edge, near the school, we've measured it out and it won't affect the football pitches.
"It gets very soggy every year, so we think it'll have a positive benefit to the field in terms of drainage and helping with the water.
"We've had an assessment done and that seems very positive.
"We don't think there was anything to worry about. The Parent-Teachers Association at the school are also very keen and on board with the idea."
