Ashby Town Council have announced there will be an increased in parking enforcement officers to clamp down on parking on the double yellow lines.
In an announcement shared on social media, the town council said: 'Following numerous complaints from members of the public, additional parking enforcement officers will be deployed during evening hours on Market Street.
'Enforcement activity will focus on several areas, including the upper section of Market Street, where vehicles are frequently parked on double yellow lines while drivers collect takeaway orders.
'Convenient and safe parking is available at multiple locations throughout the town centre, and car parks operated by NWLDC are free of charge after 5pm.'
This comes after complaints were raised at a Planning and Transport Meeting with Ashby Town Council on Monday 16 March, where PCSO Tipper gave an update on local beat priorities.
During this discussion, the PCSO answered questions from councillors about the parking at the top of Market Street.
There was also discussion about the increase in vehicle-related crime around Ashby, with Police currently investigating a young man they caught on CCTV around the town 'trying car doors' and, if unlocked, 'pinching anything in them.'
The man was described as between the ages of 18 and 30 and wearing a t-shirt to cover his face.
The PCSO warned residents to make sure there cars are locked.
