An independent Ashby café has been named the Great Food Awards Café of the Year, being celebrated for friendly customer service, excellent local food sourcing and carefully considered food and drink menu.

Lil Bo's Deli, which is situated on Ashby's Mill Street, reached the finals of last year's awards and has now taken the top spot for the 2026/7 competition.

The Great Food Club is a regional food guide highlighting the best independent restaurants, cafes and producers across the East Midlands.

According to The Great Food Club, 'Lil Bo's is a small, characterful deli and café with a strong focus on local food and drink.

'During our judging visit, the welcome was warm and the food impressed.

'The shelves are packed with products from nearby producers, including local bread, pie, beer, cider and whisky.

'The whole place feels personal, independent and closely connected to the area around it.'
