Ashby-based charity, Hereditary Brain Aneurysm Support, has announced its Hike For Hope fundraiser.

This will be a community-driven event set to take place in the Derbyshire Peak District on Sunday, June 29.

The event is to be led by Loughborough-based mountain leader and hereditary brain aneurysm survivor, Andy Motch and his fellow experienced mountain leader colleagues.

Participants are invited to embark on a challenging, but rewarding, trek to Kinder Scout, the highest point in the Peak District standing at a height of 636m, while raising essential funds to support people and families affected by brain aneurysms through their families.

It is estimated around three people a week die a potentially preventable death due to a hereditary aneurysm.

The hike will go via William Clough, a steep-sided ravine, to the plateau of Kinder Scout, with an ascent of 1,641 feet and a route covering 14.5 kilometres, giving walkers breathtaking views while raising vital funds.

As part of its preparations for this and other fundraising events throughout the year, HBA Support is appealing to businesses for fundraising sponsorship to help provide branded team shirts and other essential fundraising materials.

These shirts will aim to foster a sense of unity among participants while also increasing awareness of the charity's important work.

Sponsoring businesses will benefit from recognition across all the charity's social media and website, and acknowledgement at key events.

The charity is seeking to raise £2,000 to ensure that the HBA Support Team have the resources they need to make a meaningful impact.

Registration for the Hike for Support 2025 is now open, with places limited to 45 participants to ensure a safe and fully insured experience.

Those interested in taking part or supporting the event are encouraged to register their interest at [email protected].

Local businesses interested in becoming Fundraising Sponsors can contact HBA Support at [email protected] to discuss partnership opportunities.
