Ashby Probus Club celebrated its 50th Anniversary last Saturday (November 18) at a special dinner held at Willesley Park Golf Club.

The special guests were Dr. Paul Cook, President of Ashby Rotary Club and his wife Vicky.

It was Rotary Club members who were responsible for the founding of the worldwide Probus movement in 1965, and Ashby Rotary members who instigated the formation of the Ashby Probus Club in 1973.

Other guests included members from Ashby Castle Rotary Club, Ashby and Coalville Lions Club and from Melbourne and Castle Donington Probus Clubs.

To mark this special occasion, not only was a dinner enjoyed but the evening concluded with the sounds of a string quartet.

Ashby Probus Club is a friendship club for retired professional and businessmen and offers monthly meetings with a speaker and lunch at The Beeches restaurant and hotel in Burton Road, Ashby.

Members also enjoy meals out and a variety of popular activities and visits to places of interest to which partners are also invited.

If you think Ashby Probus Club is for you why not come along to a meeting.

The club has lasted 50 years, so must be doing things right.
