Arrests made in North West Leicestershire as part of police crackdown on domestic abuse and assault
Police made arrests in North West Leicestershire last week as part of a force proactive operation focused on investigating reports of offences including assault, harassment and domestic abuse.
The arrests - 11 in all - were carried out across the North West Leicestershire and Hinckley & Blaby force areas last Tuesday and Wednesday ( November 5 and 6).
Nine males and two females were arrested during the operation for offences including rape, assault, harassment, stalking and burglary.
Leicestershire Police say the arrests were made as part of a proactive policing operation focused on progressing investigations into reports which have been received, including reports of domestic abuse.
A report from the force says: "Two people have since been charged – A 43-year-old man has also been charged with domestic-related assault and appeared at court where he has been released on bail. He is due to stand trial next year.
"A 33-year-old man has been charged with assault – the allegation is not domestic-related. He has been released on bail and is due to appear at court this week.
"Seven of the people arrested have been released on bail while investigations continue. Two people were released with no further action. One investigation was transferred to another force.
"Safeguarding support has been put in place for victims where required."
Detective Sergeant Nik Sirel said: "Investigating these types of reports, including reports of domestic abuse, remains a priority for the force.
"This proactive operation has allowed us to focus on progressing investigations by identifying and arresting suspects, providing safeguarding support to victims where required and carrying out further enquiries.
"Thank you to the officers and staff who have been involved in this operation so far for your hard work, dedication and professionalism.
"Our investigative teams will now continue with enquiries, including working with partners. Please know we are here to help you. If you are a victim of crime please report it to us so that we can take the action needed.
