Photo and Video Gallery: Remembrance Sunday Service in Ashby de la Zouch
Thousands gathered in Ashby town centre on Sunday morning for the annual Remembrance Day Service at the War Memorial in Market Street.
Prayers and hymns were led by Rev Canon Sue Field, from St Helen's Church, and Tim Phillips from Holy Trinity Church.
Those gathered sang Crown Him With Many Crowns and Abide With Me before the Last Post and two minutes' silence to remember those who gave their lives in service of their country.
The morning finished with the singing of the National Anthem - and it is thought as many as 4,000 people attended the service.
Chairman of Ashby Royal British Legion, Dan Harrison, has been helping to raise the profile of the annual Poppy Appeal, which raised at least £35,000 in the area last year.
He said: "It goes towards the greater national image of how we can care for the veterans, whether they're young or old.
"And we've also got more and more younger veterans coming in who need help now.
"Probably £35,000 wasn't the top figure from last year as more money came in after, but that's what we're hoping to achieve this year as well.
"Ashby's done so much in the past. It's got a history of supporting the Royal British Legion and raising money.
"I always admire what happens here and the efforts that get put into it, you know, it's a lot of work that goes on. Phenomenal.
"But, if it wasn't for those brave men and women who lost their lives and did what they did, we wouldn't be here today walking around, so it'd be a totally different world we'd be living in. It wouldn't be a happy one."
