Aldi Ashby 20 returns next week - with a large field of runners expected for annual event

Over 1,500 runners are due to take part in this year's Ashby 20 road race event.
Organised by the dedicated members of Ivanhoe Runners, this renowned event has been a staple in the running community since 1988 and returns on March 23.
Runners will follow the scenic countryside route through Packington, Swepstone, Heather and Normanton Le Heath before finishing on the Bath Grounds.

The event organisers say they are proud it is a not-for-profit event
Athletes from across the United Kingdom will take part, with one particularly dedicated runner traveling from Paris to join the other competitors.

The 20-mile race offers participants the chance to test their endurance on a scenic route through the North West Leicestershire countryside, with the added bonus of being part of a race that champions the spirit of community and inclusivity.
Beyond the thrill of competition, the Aldi Ashby 20 is committed to making a positive impact.
This year, the event proudly supports several charities, including Teenage Cancer Trust, Heartwize for Runners, Bright Hope, and Wishes 4 Kids.

Organisers say it is much more than a race. Local volunteers, businesses, and residents come together to ensure its success, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere for both participants and spectators.
And for the runners, the event is a rewarding experience that does not end at the finish line. Many will proudly wear the iconic Ashby 20 hoodie, a coveted symbol of their achievement.

Finishers can be seen celebrating in the local bars and cafés throughout Ashby, sharing stories from the race while wearing their well-earned hoodies.

This tradition highlights how the event not only brings runners together but also unites the entire community.
