Road Re-opened After A42 Ashby Junction Accident

The A42 has been re-opened following has a 'severe' accident on the A42 junction at Ashby.

The incident was affecting traffic in both directions on Saturday afternoon between Ashby, Junction 13, and the M1 J23 for Derby.

One lane had been closed on the A42 north but Leicestershire Police now say the road was reopened at around 7pm and traffic is moving normally.

Emergency services had been called to the carriageway between Ashby and Tonge at about 2pm today.

The crash involved a van and a car. The van driver was trapped after the incident with the vehicle stuck on the central reservattion.
