A42 near Ashby was blocked after emergency services called out to collision

The A42 southbound was blocked on Sunday evening near Ashby. following a collision.

National Highways East Midlands reported at around 5.30pm that the incident had taken place between the A511 junction and the B5006.

They posted: "Emergency services are in attendance.

"We will release traffic as soon as the emergency services have completed their work at scene.

"There are long delays on the approach."

However, that was followed up with another update saying the route was open again - but long delays were expected.

The updated post reads: "The road is now clear and the A42 southbound is now running again.

"All lanes are open.

"Thank you for your patience whilst we responded to this incident.

"There are delays of at least 30 mins above usual journey times."

A spokesperson for Leicestershire Police said today (Monday): "A report of a collision involving two vehicles came in just after 4.20pm yesterday (Sunday).

"No injuries were reported."
