Hundreds of SEND and disabled children from across the region have enjoyed a special day at Ashby Statutes 2026.

A total of 472 children were welcomed to the Market Street fair to enjoy the rides for free.

The day was organised by the Ashby de la Zouch & Coalville Lions Club, with support from Ashby School sixth-form students.

Organisers thanked Pat Collins Funfairs for giving their time to help make the special day possible.

The Ashby Statutes continues until Tuesday 22 September, with visitors being warned to expect road closures and changes to bus services.

The fair is open from 4pm to 10pm on Monday, and from 4pm to 10pm on Tuesday.

Market Street and Brook Street are closed during the event, with a number of surrounding roads also subject to temporary traffic restrictions and one-way systems.

Car parking is available at North Street Car Park, Hood Park Short Stay Car Park, South Street Car Park and Money Hill Car Park. Money Hill offers two hours' free parking and is a short walk from the town centre.

Bus passengers are also being advised that some stops are temporarily out of use because of the road closures.

Anyone travelling towards Burton should use the stop at South Street Car Park, while passengers travelling towards Coalville should use the stop at The Green.

Visitors are being urged to allow extra time for their journeys, check temporary signage and follow directions to the alternative bus stops.

Parking restrictions are also in force around the event.

Vehicles parked in contravention could receive a penalty charge notice and be removed at the owner's expense.
