IM Properties has confirmed that a global logistics firm could become the first occupier of the planned expansion of Mercia Park, if planning permission is granted.
Mercia Park, which is a large employment park at Junction 11 of the M42 near Appleby Magna, hopes the £150m extension will create between 1,000 and 1,700 jobs when it is fully up and running.
If the park's expansion is allowed to go ahead, the fist business to claim a space there will be global logistics firm DSV, who will bring 420 new jobs to North West Leicestershire.
DSV already has about one million square feet of space at the existing Mercia Park site, where they, along with Jaguar Land Rover, employ more than 2,500 people.
The plans for the site's expansion will go before the North West Leicestershire District Council planning committee soon.
