Angela Bailey and daughter Alison are bringing the community together to raise money for Breast Cancer Now

A mother and daughter from Willington are turning their family's personal experience of breast cancer into a positive force for good by organising a charity coffee morning in aid of Breast Cancer Now, supported by Right at Home Derby, Ashby, Burton and Uttoxeter.

Angela Bailey, a member of the Willington Friday Club, and her daughter Alison have both been personally affected by breast cancer within their family, which has experienced the disease across generations.

With Alison currently going through her own breast cancer journey, the family wanted to do something positive to give back and raise money for a charity that is close to their hearts.

The pair are now inviting local residents, families and friends to join them at a special Breast Cancer Now Charity Coffee Morning at Willington Village Hall on Friday 21st August, from 9.30am until 11.30am.

The family-friendly event will offer plenty for visitors to enjoy, including:

  • Hot and cold refreshments
  • Sweet and savoury baked goods
  • A raffle
  • Face painting
  • Breast cancer awareness information
  • And lots more!

The event is open to everyone, with the organisers hoping that people from Willington and the surrounding communities will come along, enjoy a cuppa and some homemade treats, take part in the activities and help raise as much money as possible for Breast Cancer Now.

For Angela and Alison, the morning is about more than fundraising. It is an opportunity to take something that has had a profound impact on their family and use it to help others.

Angela said: "Breast cancer has affected our family across generations, and with Alison currently going through treatment, we wanted to do something positive and give something back.

"We hope people will come along, enjoy the morning and help us raise as much as we can for Breast Cancer Now."

The event is being supported by Right at Home Derby, Ashby, Burton & Uttoxeter, who are helping to spread the word and encourage members of the local community to get involved.
