Measham Carboot says it will be closed this Sunday until further notice due to the ongoing Coronavirus outbreak - after a decision to open at the weekend sparked anger.

The weekly event went ahead as usual at Bosworth Road in Measham at the weekend.

But organisers said they would 'Respectfully suggest people in high risk groups stay away'.

Despite this, they received criticism online for going ahead with the event.

Leicestershire Police later issued a warning about attending car boot sales which you can read HEREPolice in carboot sale warning

And there was widespread outrage nationally that the general public were ignoring the Government guidelines on social distancing amid the current crisis.

But on Monday morning, Measham Carboot confirmed it would now be closing while the outbreak continues.
