UPDATE: 7.10pm....

• Highways England says this incident has been cleared and the A42 is now fully open after the earlier collision which closed the road for two hours.

• Leicestershire Fire Service says two lorries and a car were involved and one person was trapped in a vehicle.

Highways England are reporting they are dealing with a serious collision on the A42 Northbound near Ashby.

They say it is a 'multi-vehicle collision'.

Police, Fire and Ambulance Services are at the scene.

The road is now closed between Junction13 at Ashby and Junction 14 Castle Donington/Tonge.

Vehicles caught within the hold up will be removed when it is safe and practical to do so. says Highways England.

Motorists are being told they need to take an alternative route but a diversion has already been put in place.

Follow signs with the solid circle symbol and take the A512 signposts which will take you to J23A of the M1.
