6th Apr 2025 - 6th Apr 2025
Sunday 6th April

Welcome back! The Museum is opening its doors again this season, with free exhibitions and guided tour on the first Sunday of every month. The first exhibition is an investigation in to the lives of some of the pupils and masters who lived and worked at the school in the past.
Find out about why Victorian free school boys shared their playground with a pig, which school master became a celebrated artist, and how the school has changed since it first opened in 1697.
Did you know a freak whirlwind knocked over part of the wall in the 1950s? And have you heard of Captain Freeman? We've also got hold of some pictures of some of the pupils who were here in the eighteenth century.
A far cry from what pupils look like now! Did you go to the school? Tell us about it when you come to visit. Free to visit - with the option to join us for a ticketed discussion with Prof Fred Steward, who will explain the role pupils from the school played in the Industrial Revolution.
