Linda Wood, from Smisby, returned from the World Seniors Badminton Championships in Thailand with two bronze medals.

Nearly 1,700 players from 53 countries took part in the event held in Pattaya. Conditions were challenging with high temperatures & humidity combined with drift in the venue making the shuttle move offline.

The first medal came in the singles, where she came up against the top seed, Heidi Bender from Germany, in the semi-final. It was a tight three-setter with Linda losing narrowly in the third game.

The second medal came in the ladies' doubles with partner Sue Sheen from Hampshire.

In the early rounds they beat the top seeds Heidi Bender & Marie Puype.

In the semi-final they narrowly lost another right 3 set match against an English pair from Yorkshire.

Linda said: "It was a great week, I was so pleased to be able to come home with two medals as a follow-up to similar success in last year's European Championships.
