Ashby Young Musicians hit the right note at the 2024-25 District 1070 Final on Saturday.

The contestants representing Ashby Rotary Clubs at Uppingham School were Theo Jenkins, Effie Bowman and Oliver and Samuel Pope.

Sam on Tuba won the senior instrumentalist category, while Effie won the intermediate section playing the harp.

Effie was also presented with the Trophy for the best overall vocalist and instrumentalist performances.

Both of them have been selected to represent the District at the Regional Final on March 9 at the Wolverhampton Music School.

Competition in this final was keen - and candidates up to 17 years of age from Leicestershire, Cambridgeshire, Lincolnshire and Northamptonshire took part, including eight instrumentalists, eight vocalists and three ensembles.

This national Young Musician Competition has four stages: Club level, District, Regional and a National Final to be held on March 29;

The Rotary Clubs say Ashby can be proud that two of its young people have progressed to the third stage of this highly regarded competition.
