A woman was bitten by a dog in an incident in Donisthorpe last Sunday (April 27).

Leicestershire Police's Forest Beat team are appealing for witnesses to help identify the owner of the dog.

The incident occurred around 6pm on the canal path between Jungle Madness and Moira Furnace.

The dog involved is described as an Akita type breed with white body hair, jet black head and a large tail.

A spokesperson for Leicestershire Police said: "The person walking the dog is described as a white male, around 5'9" tall, aged between 25 and 35, of stocky build.

"He was possibly wearing an olive-green coloured t-shirt and trousers.

"If you know who this individual could be please contact Leicestershire Police quoting reference number 25000244134."

It is the second such incident in the Ashby de la Zouch area in recent weeks.

Last month, a child was bitten by a dog in an incident in Blackfordby.
