Woman dies after collision involving two cars in Measham over the weekend

A woman died following a collision involving two cars in Measham on Saturday.

Leicestershire Police were called to Ashby Road at 1.12pm by Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service who were in attendance at the incident which involved a silver Mercedes car and a black Bentley.

East Midlands Ambulance Service also attended.

Paramedics attended to a woman who was travelling in the Mercedes.

Sadly the woman, who was in her 50s, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The male driver of the Mercedes, who is in his 60s, was taken to hospital in a serious but stable condition.

No other serious injuries were reported.

An investigation remains ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the collision.

Detective Constable Hal Kinsey, from the force's Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: "Our enquiries are ongoing at the scene and we are appealing to anyone with any information, who has not yet spoken to us, to make contact.

"If you saw the collision, or if you saw either of the vehicles travelling beforehand, please get in touch with us.

"If you have any dashcam footage from the area at the time, please also make contact with us."
