What's on in Ashby this weekend

Ashby Drama Society is staging a production of Alan Bennett's Habeas Corpus at the Venture Theatre,

The run starts tonight (Thursday) before shows on Friday and Saturday.

There will also be another three nights next week as well.

This fast paced comedy centres around the thwarted libidos of the Wicksteed family.

The principal characters, friends and the sexual satisfaction of the "corpus" (body) are the ruling passions in this farcical comedy of ill-manners, through mistaken identities and carnal encounters.

But this production is not suitable for children.

There is live music at the White Hart in Ashby on Saturday night when Whisky Chasers will be playing.

Details are HERE.

The Greyhound in Boundary also has live music this Saturday at 9pm.

Midlands band Rainer will be playing and entry is free.

The band say they perform the stock crowd favourites, but also like to play great songs that you do not often hear live - songs that everyone has forgotten they love.

Their interchangeable lead female and male vocals, backed by guitar, drums, bass and keyboard 'means folks won't get bored', they add.

The band says: "It makes us a very versatile unit, bringing a wide range of songs and genres."

Brew in Market Street is holding another one of its Lazy Sunday Afternoon sessions this weekend.

Sunday's music comes from Dorothy Ella.

You can find out more details about that HERE.

Ashby Art Club will be at Smisby Village Hall on Monday evening.

There will be a Kara Strachan Acrylics Demonstration - the latest in the club's series of not to be missed demonstrations by visiting artists.

You can find out more details of this event, HERE.

On Tuesday night, the latest Ashby Civic Society talk takes place at the St Helen's Heritage Centre.
