These were the scenes in Ashby on Friday night as the town's pubs shut their doors due to the Coronavirus crisis.

Just after 9pm, The Lamb (pictured) was closed along with the Bull (see video) which had a sign outside saying the pub was no longer open.

Some stayed open longer but the sheets were almost empty as the Government's orders earlier in the day began to take effect.

There will be a monthly review of the decision to close cafes, pubs and restaurants all over the country in a bid to fight the virus What Ashby Needs To Know

Nightclubs, theatres, cinemas, gyms and leisure centres were also told to close "as soon as they reasonably can".

Meanwhile, the Government said it will pay 80 per cent of wages for employees who are not able to work, up to £2,500 a month.
