Two Teenagers With 'Large Axe And Knife' Arrested After Aggravated Burglary And Car Theft In Moira

Two teenagers with 'a large axe and large knife' committing an aggravated burglary and car theft in Koppe Close, Moira, this morning (Wednesday).

But the pair - aged 18 and 17 - were arrested by police just over half an hour after the crime was reported.

The stolen car was driven towards Leicester but police stopped them using Tactical Pursuit and Containment.

When the two were caught, police revealed they had a large axe and knife with them.

A tweet from Leicestershire Roads Policing Unit explained the timetable of events and how little time it took to close in on the thieves - and was accompanied by the hashtag 'nomessing'.

They posted: "0725hrs caller reports aggravated burglary and her car stolen in Moira.

"0800hrs stolen car stopped entering Leicester using #TPAC tactics and two males arrested.

"In the car was a large axe and a large knife! What a result! #RPU #nomessing

"Great teamwork with dog mobile and RPU crews!"

Leicestershire Police issued a further update and a spokesman said: "Shortly before 7.30am today (Wednesday 12 August), we received a report of an aggravated burglary that had just taken place in Koppe Close, Moira.

"It was reported that the suspects left in a car - an Audi - which had been taken from the address.

"Officers were deployed and located and stopped the car on the A50 in Leicester, close to the junction with the A46.

"An 18-year-old man and a 17-year-old youth were arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary.

"They remain in custody and enquiries are ongoing."
