Two houses could be built in a Blackfordby garden

Two houses could be built in the garden of an existing property in Blackfordby, if a planning application is approved.
The occupants of the Butt Lane home have submitted an application to build two detached self build, custom build houses in their garden.
The applicant explained that the site "is located at some distance from the built settlement of Blackfordby and relates more to the built-up area of Woodville".
The cover letter submitted alongside the application states: "As such the development proposal would have access to a substantive range of local services via sustainable transport modes."
The proposals also set out how disruption to neighbouring properties would be minimised.
The application states: "The subject site stands some distance from the existing properties that adjoin the plot and is screened on all sides by established trees, fencing and foliage. A fence is also to be introduced to the Northern boundary."
It adds: "It is also considered that the scale, ground levels, landscaping along with any additional boundary treatment deemed necessary can be provided which will minimise any impact upon the amenity of adjacent dwellings."
Two neighbours have submitted comments on the proposals. One neighbour comments that they do not object "on the grounds that they are built not facing and overlooking my property."
Another neighbour objected raising concerns about increased traffic and the removal of greenery which "protect our visibility to some degree of the exiting dwelling".
The applicant's cover letter concluded: "It is considered that the addition of two Self Build and Custom Build dwellings in a sustainable location would contribute in a positive manner towards addressing the Council's current shortfall.
"It is also considered that any potential harm from the proposed development would significantly and demonstrably be outweighed by the benefits the delivery of two Self build Custom dwellings in the proposed location."
North West Leicestershire District Council have yet to make a decision on the application.
