Ashby's events calendar for 2025 has been set out - with a Festival in the Park event confirmed for the Bath Grounds in May.

Monday's meeting Ashby de la Zouch Town Council Finance & Events Committee discussed the year's attractions which are spread throughout the year and culminate with the Carols Around the Christmas Tree on December 24.

Ashby's regular events such as the Statutes, Ashby Sport Fun Day and Jim's Tractor Run, all make a return.

But the Festival in the Park will take place on May 4 and include the commemoration of the 80th anniversary of VE Day.

In 2023, the Bath Grounds attracted a crowd of around 5,000 for the King's Coronation event - and it is hoped this will prove to be as popular.

Town Centre Manager, Stuart Benson, told councillors: "The Festival in the Park will be a free-to-enter event for the public.

"We met to discuss it and felt the theme should be music through the decades - with the VE Day celebration included - and that we should get local schools and dance groups involved.

"We want mums, dads and grandparents to come along - then we can have some bands on stage later to get the crowd involved.

"We've been making some good progress with the event. We want there to be something for everyone."
