Town Council raises concerns over planned Ashby petrol station development - but has no objections

Ashby de la Zouch Town Council has expressed concerns over proposed improvements to the Station Road Service Station.
Plans have been submitted to North West Leicestershire District Council which would see a shop extension and a new jet wash with a canopy overhead.
A planning statement accompanying the application says the site would be open for 24 hours.
It says: "This statement is prepared to support the planning application for the proposed demolition of the existing car wash and the construction of a single story extension to the real side rear hand side, along with the recommissioning of the existing jet wash area with canopy over, alterations to be shopfront and introduction of new material to the Shop Parade.
"The site is proposed to operate 24 hours.
"The proposed development has taken care to be sympathetic to the site and to the surrounding conservation area to produce a scheme that is cohesive within the surrounding context and will become a welcome addition to the neighbourhood."
The scheme was discussed by the Town Council at its recent planning committee meeting.
It said: :"Ashby de la Zouch Town Council has no objections to this application but queries whether there would be enough room for the new canopy.
"The Town Council also notes the comments raised by a nearby resident and has concerns that the jet wash could impact neighbouring properties - both with noise and spray. This needs to be fully explored to ensure the impact is minimal."
