Town Council invites Ashby residents to come and enjoy Festival in the Park free family event

Ashby de la Zouch Town Council has announced more details of next month's Festival in the Park which will be held at the Bath Grounds.
The event takes place on Sunday, May 4, from 12noon-7pm and is being billed as a free community event.
But the first hour will be dedicated to commemorating the 80th anniversary of VE Day.
You are invited to bring your own chairs and a picnic blanket for a day which will include live music, entertainers, children's rides, a licenced Bar, food vendors and community groups.
Town Centre Manager, Stuart Benson, told Monday's meeting of the Town Council's Finance and Events Committee: "This is the big thing we have going on next month.
"It's our first big event for this year and it's a new one. The planning is done and dusted and the itinerary is worked out from the Mayor's opening to various musical acts during the day on the stage.
"There is a volunteers' village where local organisations will get a free space - and those applications are still open.
"We also have fair rides and street entertainers. Face painting will be a paid-for activity as will some of the fairground rides for the children.
"It'll be a jam-packed day, officially starting at noon.
"Everybody is encouraged to bring their picnic blankets, chairs and tables, and come and enjoy this free community event for the town.
"The first hour will be dedicated to the commemoration of VE Day.
"We have a lady called Sophie Dangerfield and she'll be playing 1940s-style music."
It has also been confirmed that, on May 8, there will be a VE Day anniversary service at St Helen's Church at 9.30pm.
