Organisers of this year's Ashby Open Gardens have announced that more than £5,000 was raised for charity.

They are describing it as a record-breaking year after attracting 675 visitors.

The money raised from the two-day event last weekend will be split between The Air Ambulance Service and Bright Hope in North West Leicestershire.

A social media post says: "We had 675 visitors, many who travelled from far and wide to visit our amazing town and see the stunning hidden gardens.

"A total of over £5,000 was raised - we have now raised over £30,000 over the years for good local causes.

"Without the hard work put in by all our dedicated gardeners (and cooks), this wonderful annual event could not take place.

"Big thanks to Woodlander, Ashby Toolbox and Ashby de la Zouch Town Council for their support and help.

"But most of all, thanks to all our wonderful, encouraging and friendly visitors who make it all worthwhile."

The 2025 event will be held on June 7-8 and there is an invitation to anyone who would like to open their garden up to visitors next summer.
