At least one shop will be open all day on Christmas Day in Ashby in case you run out of essential items.

The Asda On The Move store will be doing business as usual on December 25.

The store can be found at Flagstaff Island as part of the EG fuel station site.

It means that if you need a pint of milk, a loaf off bread or have a slightly bigger shopping list, then Asda will be open.

And if your Christmas present did not come with batteries included, Flagstaff Island could be for you.

A spokesman for EG said: "The Fuel and Grocery & Merchandise offering will be open as usual on Christmas Day.

"This site operates around the clock."

The store has only been operating for 14 months since its launch in October 2020.

An Asda on the Move convenience store has been launched in Ashby - only third of its kind started by the supermarket chain.

The company says it gives motorists in the area the chance to shop for fresh food and essentials along with fuel.

The site was part of a three-store trial and follows on from the launch of the retailer's first two sites in Walsall.

All three locations were initially part of a trial with operator EG Group.

Asda On the Move says it will offer customers a comprehensive range of 1,500 products from key categories including bakery, fresh, chilled and ambient.

Customers are able to shop for 'essentials', as well as 'food to go' products.
