Staunton Harold Garden Centre is to re-open on Friday with social distancing measures in place.

Garden centres were told this week they could open their doors again on Wednesday after the Government made a slight easing of the Coronavirus lockdown.

But Staunton Harold is waiting 48 hours before resuming business.

A message on its website Staunton Harold Website explains that a one way system will be in operation at the centre which is four miles from Ashby.

A number of safety measures have been introduced to protect staff and customers.

The Derbyshire centre is also asking that visitors respect the 2m distancing rules at all times.

And while people are being urged to pay by card, cash will be accepted.

The centre says it will be operating normal hours: Mon - Sat 8:30am to 5:00pm and Sunday, 10:30-4:30pm.

But it adds that the Peach House restaurant will remain closed.

Staunton Harold Nurseries and Garden Centre was purchased in 1990 and at the time it was simply a nursery selling the plants that were grown there.

Now it has been developed into an extensive garden centre selling a huge selection of unusual varieties of plants, gifts, furniture and more.

The garden centre is situated in the walled gardens behind the historic Staunton Harold Hall, adjacent to the Ferrers Centre for Arts & Crafts and Staunton Harold Church.
