Third Covid booster jab programme to be based at Measham Leisure Centre for patients in Ashby and North West Leicestershire

The Covid-19 booster programme will be run from Measham Leisure Centre - with some groups of patients being lined up for a third vaccine jab.

Eligible patients from Ashby, Measham and North West Leicestershire will be invited offered a third booster vaccine.

Date have still to be confirmed, but a post on Coalville's Long Lane Surgery Facebook page says a likely start date is the third week in September.

The programme is being run by the Primary Care Network and staffed by local GP surgery staff in North West Leicestershire.

Confirmation of details are still to be confirmed however the following persons should be offered a third dose COVID-19 booster vaccine in stage 1:

  • adults aged 16 years and over who are immunosuppressed
  • those living in residential care homes for older adults
  • all adults aged 70 years or over
  • adults aged 16 years and over who are considered clinically extremely vulnerable
  • frontline health and social care workers

The post adds: "We do not have a fixed start date as yet.

"And as soon as we have confirmation we will update,

"However we are currently working on a start date of the third week of September."
