The Ashby Show returned after a three year absence last weekend - and attracted thousands to Cattows Farm in Heather.

Here are just a few of the photos from the day which, hopefully, capture the success of the day.

Attractions at the show this year included Big Pete and the Grim Reaper monster trucks display.

It is one of Europe's largest monster trucks with a full size American truck body.

Pete partnered by the Grim Reaper jumping 15 feet in the air - and the spectacle drew a huge crowd to the main ring.

The cattle parade was a highlight for many visitors, it was a wonderful opportunity to see many of the spectacular animals that had been in the judging rings during the morning.

Shire and heavy horse classes were another feature - the gentle giants of the horse world were shown in all their magnificent glory.

The horses were presented with their manes parted.

The modern machinery display was put together with a kind help from local agricultural machinery dealers and contractors most of which have supported the Ashby show by showcasing the latest in cutting-edge machinery and new farming technology used in modern farming today .

Compared to the vintage machines or even the tractors of 20 years ago, the size and sophistication of modern agricultural machinery is truly amazing

But the vintage tractor display allowed visitors to take a step back in time and watch a fantastic collection of prized vintage machinery that been restored to its full glory to represent the history and farming from the demise of the heavy horses through to the modern day.

A classic car display saw some superb cars from yesteryear complete vehicle parade.

Organised by Neale Shepard, the classic cars display gets bigger and better each year.

The strongman competition was an exciting new feature this year.

Events were agricultural-themed and included atlas stones and a tractor pull.

The sheep show was a fun and educational live show of sheep breeds and shearing.

It was both entertaining and fun for all ages. set on the back of a 40 foot stage trailer, where the sheep are introduced onto the stage. 

There is then a very well commented shearing demonstration showing how you get wool from sheep's back to a jumper to wear.

The very popular dog show saw entries taken on the day.

You could come and see if your dog could win the best in show or best puppy. It was organised by Paul and Yvonne Bullivant from Nottingham.

Dog agility was new this year visitors could see if their dog had the brains to handle an obstacle course.

But help was on hand and there were displays to show you how it was done - so you could see if you think this might be a fun activity for your dog.
