Ashby's Christmas Market returns to the town centre this Saturday and Sunday.

The Mayor, Cllr Liz Parle will officially open the Christmas Event at 10am on stage.

There is a fantastic line up of local schools, dance academies, bands and a superb Michael Bublé tribute who will headline Saturday. With a Snow Cannon finale at 5pm (Saturday Only)

Over 60 different stalls will line Market Street offering a wide variety of delicious treats, festive tipples and gorgeous giftware. Pat Collins will be providing some small children's rides in Brook Street.

Santa will be parked up in his sleigh by the large Christmas tree so why not pop by to say hello to make sure you are on the nice list.

On the Sunday, it is the 10th anniversary Santa Fun Run and Walk on the Bath Grounds in Ashby.

The Rotary Club hopes it will be bigger and better than ever for the landmark event.

The charity event has become a fixture of the Ashby Christmas calendar - and for many, it signals the start of the festive season.

It is part of the Ashby Christmas weekend with the Fair returning in Market Street.

The Venture Theatre in Ashby begins its run of Bus Stop - A play by William Inge tonight (Thursday).

A group of cross-country bus passengers are stranded overnight by a blizzard. They seek shelter in Grace's Diner where Cherie, a nightclub singer, is pursued by a young cowboy. She struggles to decide on her next course of action before the bus departs.

Bus Stop is the play version of the famous Marilyn Monroe feature film.

It runs from 28th November to 7th December with a matinee on 30th November.

The first of a number of Advent Services takes place on Sunday at St Helen's Church in Ashby.

This will be repeated on the following two Sundays at the same venue.

Brew has its weekly Lazy Sunday Afternoon session - and this week it features Warren Stanford.

He will be bringing some guests along this Sunday and you are invited along for a cosy drink with a friendly bunch of music lovers.
