Ashby Netball Club make appeal for corporate backers ahead of 75-hour marathon record attempt in February
A target of £30,000 has been set in aid of the Kids Village Charity - and over £17,000 has already been raised ahead of the February challenge.
In February of last year, the club broke a Guinness World Record for the most netball goals scored in 24 hours, 28,745 - and raised over £23,000 as a result.
Now they want to bring their latest attempt to Ashby, and get the wider community and other clubs involved as well.
This time the club are attempting an epic netball marathon of 75 hours straight - and are organising a number of fundraising events in the lead-up.
So far, over 100 people have been lined up to take part in the event - but around 150 players are needed - with organisers offering members of the public a chance to be part of the challenge, as long as they can raise £100 towards the charity.
There has been no lack of interest in the record attempt on social media though, with the club having 1.9million views on its TikTok page.
The marathon will start on Thursday, February 20, and run until the following Sunday.
Carla Garey, one of the organisers and a member of Ashby Netball Club, said: "We're getting closer to the marathon and really want corporate sponsors to get involved to help us reach our fundraising goal.
"We're putting a call out to any netball players who want to take part - this will be your last chance to be part of something really special.
"The 75 hours is going to be a marathon, really challenging and hard work.
"But, as well as that, we want to try and set some other official Guinness World Records at the same time.
"That will include the most goals scored and three minutes by a team, and also in 60 minutes.
"So there'll be multiple attempts at both records over the weekend. That's going to make it really interesting."
