North West Leicestershire District Council (NWLDC) has today (Friday) announced it will no longer deliver copies of waste collection calendars to every household from this autumn - a move which it claims will save £15,000 a year.

It comes following approval at the full council meeting in February this year, and is expected to save the council on printing and distribution costs.

Instead, people can continue to view and download a waste collection calendar HERE.

From Monday, December 2, residents will be able to find their Christmas and 2025 collection dates by putting their postcode in the 'My location' box on the District Council website or by logging in to their council 'MyAccount' HERE.

Accessible formats of the calendar, such as a braille version, will be available on request from December 2 by contacting the council.

Paul Sanders, Head of Community Services at NWLDC, said: "We know that waste collections are hugely important to local people, so the decision to no longer deliver printed copies of the waste collection calendar to every household was not taken lightly.

"A number of neighbouring authorities have already shown that this decision will enable us to make significant cost savings as well as help us in reducing our carbon emissions.

"It's easier than ever to find waste collection dates on our website.

"From December 2, residents will also be able to download a digital version of the calendar for 2024-25 which can be viewed on a phone, tablet or computer, or printed at home."
