We asked on social media where the best place in and around Ashby to get a roast dinner is and the results are in. 

Over 50 voters put forward nine different pubs and restaurants that serve up a classic roast dinner. 

In top spot came Zamani's, taking over half of the total votes.

One voter commented saying: 'Zamani's 100%, their roast lamb is the best for miles around,' with another saying 'Zamani's for sure. Great food, great service and wonderful atmosphere. My only complaint is I struggle to find room for one of their delicious puddings.' 

In second place, Twelve on Bath Street was voted on for their popular Sunday roast menu.

A commenter, Jessica, said: 'Hands down – Twelve Ashby. Went with a friend as we couldn't get in Zamani's and it led me to this absolute gem. Honestly you should try it here! I've since been back since, and it was bang on again.' 

In a close third place was The Beeches on Burton Road, who were commended for their great vegetarian options and varied menu.

Other nominated pubs and restaurants include: 

• Lakeside Bistro in Moira, 
• Moira Miners Welfare Club, 
• Cross Keys in Newbold Coleorton, 
• The Bulls Head on Ashby's Market Street, 
• The George in Coleorton, 
• Taphouse in Smisby, Ashby 

There were also several votes by people tagging parents and grandparents saying they make the best roast, which is definitely worth a special mention.
